The ending is so powerful visually, I haven't seen it for years but It made a very strong impression when I first viewed it.

The ending song was a perfect contrast to the weird chemical brothersy techno score, it was like waking up and everything was clear. Such a good movie. :)

Seeing you post so facetiously all the time has warped my interpretation of your posts so that it's really hard for me to distinguish whether or not you're serious.

You've never heard of the Pixies?
Woah.

I've gotten so used to posting facetiously that my serious posts come out incredibly bland.

Yeah, rehabilitation from a persistent trolling state is tough. It's rendered my (proactive) writing kind of bland, as well, and I'm only now starting to recover!

There's a reason this movie remains my favorite 10 years later. Still haven't read the book. I hear the ending there is much less thrilling.

IDK what was better -- Edward Norton destroying Jared Leto, or Edward Norton destroying Edward Norton.

I'm still amazed how powerful it was visually for being made in the 90s.
And I absolutely love Brad Pitt's acting. Its a shame he's even associated with Angelina Jolie.

This explains why we had Matrix jokes for such a long period of time.

I hadn't seen fight club until a week or two when someone sat me down and forced me to watch it. The best line is definitely marla saying she hadn't been fucked like that since grade school.
Also, I haven't seen Pulp fiction. That, Fear and Loathing and Full metal jacket are on my list of things to download and watch. :(

Fight Club is easily one of the most beautiful love stories.
I've always viewed Marla Singer as the one thing that brings the narrator back from complete insanity to where he wants to have a more fulfilling, peaceful life with Marla.

Yeah, I've been watching it as that the past couple of times, it's far more fullfilling that way.

WTF?
The book/the movie is COMPLETELY unrelated to love. If anything, it was Marla who dragged him to insanity!
I mean, how the hell can you watch the movie and think it's a love movie?
Really and seriously WHAT THE FUCKING MOTHERFUCKING FUCK?

Which gets more to the point, that I'm being driven to succeed by my parent's failures, but then I wouldn't get a jab in.

I'd say that Jack was moving towards insanity anyways. Marla moved him towards that quicker by being a mirror showing how fucked up he was, but I mean really, the guy wasn't exactly normal before meeting Marla.

*sigh* I hate agreeing with you, but yeah, Marla wasn't the cause of his insanity. Hell, she's the one that gave him the courage to stand up to Tyler in the end. (I'm only going by the movie here)
Remember, Tyler Durden was conceived by Jack way before he met Marla.

It's generally said his name was Jack, because when he did the "I am ___'s colon/sorrow/whatever" it was usually Jack.

And technically, throughout the whole movie, he is Tyler Durden.

Most people believe Joe is the name of the character, but the quotes "I am Joe's (blank)" refer back to the narrator reading a book of an organ writing in the first person, which read "I am Joe's medulla oblongata". However, the film adaptation replaces "Joe" with "Jack", and on the DVD commentary featuring the author and screen writer, Palahniuk refers to the narrator as "Jack".

I always thought one of the more amazing points of fightclub is that I saw it soooo long after it came out and yet no one had spoiled it for me. Sure I heard plenty of people talk about it, quote the bit about not being a beautiful snowflake and the rules of fightclub (primarily the first and second), but no one talked about his personality or the twist at the end.
The movie also still looked really good, years after release.

Same, that is wierd.
Ender's game, however, was spoiled for me. Before I read it, someone told me that the twist was awesome. Right then and there, with no prior knowledge of the book, I guessed the twist.
