I'm trying to create HD images of all my shit so that I don't have to go through some long arduous reinstallation process if something should happen to one of my operating systems. Hence, I'm trying to download things like Norton Ghost and Acronis TrueImage, both with varying degrees of success.

What I'm wondering is if there is a similar tool in Ubuntu. I haven't been able to find anything (maybe I'm just overlooking, though), but I'm thinking it might actually be better to image my XP partition from Ubuntu and image the Ubuntu partition from XP, so that way, if one of the two fails, I can just boot from the other OS and reimage the partition.

Suggestions?

Doesn't Ubuntu have one built in already?

Yeah, Partimage, which I was having some trouble getting to work and really didn't feel like messing around with it because I was getting frustrated. I found a post on the Ubuntu forums while looking for help to the effect of, "Partimage is not a program, it is a pre-programmed list of excuses that will simply tell you what it can't do whenever you click a button and give you an excuse as to why it can't do it."

Actually, though, I just discovered I can run Acronis with Wine. So, problem solved, I think.

EDIT- Maybe not, it won't install after all. =/

I have a computer question.

My dad bought a new printer, but it doesn't have wireless capabilities. Is there any way for me to print stuff off of my laptop through the computer to which the printer IS connected, without actually getting on that computer?

If you're connected to a router, there is a way, I can tell you that. It should be relatively easy to look up, I just have troubles with it, myself.

assuming the computer with the printer is running windows:
go to control panel, printers, and check the box. or something.

You'll probably be looking for Bonjour, then.

Share it as a network printer on your dad's computer.
