I'm curious as to how you would answer. I did manage to get into this residency college (one of the best on campus, and the only one where you can live without another person in your room).

Have fun.

I get what they are doing but it strikes me as a really fucking lame way to go about it.

Read: I would not want to be in a residence program with the kind of people who think these questions are super lol

These questions are awesome. Better than the "How would you poision somebody without the cops knowing" from Cambridge.

This reminds me of foreign language textbooks that try to be hip.

WHAT how would you poison somebody without the cops knowing is an EXCELLENT question for so many reasons. the ones for "brown college" are just really lame under the guise of asking for critical thinking and creativity

Honestly, I would laugh and just resign myself to another year of living with someone because quite frankly, it seems much easier than acting like a retard in documented form.

These questions are awesome. Better than the "How would you poision somebody without the cops knowing" from Cambridge. It depends who you're poisoning really, but I think an effective way would be to follow them to the grocery store with a syringe full of some poison, then poke inject it via a tiny hole in some item while they're not looking. There are zero witnesses, and it's absolutely untraceable. The cops would be lucky if they figured out how you did it, much less that you did.

Or you could put anthrax/etc in their mail while it's in their mailbox. In fact, that's a lot easier.

1. b - Your mom. Against you and the other idiot on the balcony.

2. a. - Because your mom loves my redwood.

<picture of your mom>

3. a. - I'd kill Freud. Not sure why, but I think it's related to your mom.

4. a. - I fucked your mom. Yeah, that was pretty simple.

5. a. - Did your mom write the application? Yes. (Correct answer: no. The bitch is too dumb)

That was fun.

And yeah, rest of them were just as bad, really.

My answer to question 3 c is:
With my extra dry time, I will wonder how I was able to get the extra dry time because the question said that short people get rained on last.

Why is there a limit to how big your attachment can be.

See, the thing is, my school is incredibly pretentious and preppy. This is where 5 popped collars are cool :V So, Brown is the most "unique" and "off the wall" place in the entire school. Plus we have easy access to the school's steam tunnels (which is awesome), school funding for whatever we want to do, our own private dining room, and we get to go to the front of the line to swipe into the cafeteria.

I mean, I agree with plustee's analysis somewhat, but I still found the application amusing and would much rather live here than join a frat and do coke :V

Juicycampus literally has a 'Which frat does the most coke?" thread for my school :V It's because we're classier.

Not that JC is a viable source, but the fact that more than one frat is known for coke use is unsettling.

1) Do not have a car, nor really want one. Driving in Charlottesville is fucking hell.
2) Brown College is right in front of every goddamn class I have to go to, plus directly between two libraries and a dining hall
3) I will be forced to get an apartment next year anyway, because my parents will be moving up to PA and I need to establish residency in VA.
4) I have no one to go in on an apartment with
5) I wanna meet new people without actually joining clubs :V
6) Really I'm looking forward to it. I'm not going there because it's the lesser of all evils, but I do actually wanna live there. Say what you will, but it's pretty much the only place to meet an interesting individual who is NOT a flaming homosexual.

Also, it doesn't actually attract a lot of liberal arts types. All but one person I know who lives there is actually an Engineer. I'm guessing an unsettling number of them are actually b-tards (they hold a haunted house every year, and Anonymous and EFG were featured in it...despite the theme being "A Midsummer Night's Scream" :V). However, I need to meet other people who play Magic, WoW, and Settlers of Catan to fuel my nerd-interests, and I'm not gonna get that by signing a lease on an apartment and live by myself breathing my own farts for 12 hours a day.

Ah, we have what are more or less on campus apartments here, school owned, dirt cheap rent, and everyone (2,3,4 person apartments) get's their own room. It's ideal for my friends and I but I shoulda realized that not all colleges would have such a convenient setup. I hope it works out as well as you think it will, the place sounds interesting enough.

I think I just had a terrible experience because I lived in the freshman dorms but oh god did I want out like immediately. College students are retarded, noisy, and obnoxious, seriously. It's like no one actually goes to college to learn.

Yeah, this is precisely why I don't want to live in most of the on-grounds housing. Most of them are just places for 8 guys to share one rent and 4 bedrooms. I enjoyed my hall at the beginning of the year, but now it has just become incredibly annoying. People scream for absolutely no reason at all. Seriously :V

Did you honestly expect to go to college to be part a reserved academic community dedicated to self-advancement through the pursuit of knowledge?

I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing at this.

They're not too horribly far from the truth in some cases. But even following your point, if I saw either of those movies, I'd be let down when I went to college, not surprised that there's copious drinking, noise, and fornicating.

However, I also think it's safe to say that people like Jenius and myself don't nearly appreciate all that stuff as much as you do. We see college as, first and foremost, an institution of higher learning. I can deal with all the shit that comes with the college social scene to a certain extent, but at times it is too much. I think I have more tolerance than Jenius, but I still don't enjoy it when some drunk girl who lives upstairs brings her fucking trashed boyfriend to come see us while we're trying to get ready for midterms and the like.

It's life, you juggle your social and intellectual lives. Some people are better at it than others, some people ignore one of the other. In college, it's all that, plus no adult supervision and drugs/drinking. That you're surprised what would happen with all of that is silly though understandable.

All I was trying to say is amuses me that anyone would get indignant at the prospect of tens of thousands of teenagers in the same place with steady access to many different intoxicants not behaving themselves.

Funny I just moved off campus because I got tired of whiny prudes complaining for my hedonism in our shared space in the dorms. He's drunk at 2 am on a saturday? What has the world come to?

That's far more annoying to me than the guys who are always obnoxiously drunk.

Ok, so you don't do drugs, and don't drink, and you're really arrogant about that. And you don't understand that your arrogance is no different than a person who drinks and is arrogant about smoking, or vice versa. Beyond this, I hate the guys who do retarded shit like coke, but hate me for drinking because that's bad for you.

My life is sheltered, I had heard stories and everything but I really thought that's what a uni would be. My brother went off to a uni before me and kinda reported back that people were still just as dumb as everyone in highschool was, but it never really sunk in until my roommate stumbled into my room at like 3am and threw up all over my floor.

I mean I didn't ever yell at people and I was understanding that they could do whatever the fuck they wanted to do, I just got out of the situation asap. I never told my roommate to stop doing stupid shit and I helped him clean up when stuff went wrong. I think I'm a pretty understanding and mellow person irl, I just would rather not live in dorms because it was beginning to test even my patience.
