I have a new CD; it's in stores, and when you have a CD in stores, you have to do in-store appearances, and if nobody shows up, I just pretend like I'm shopping. That's how I shop; I sit behind a table with a pen.

Considering the demographic of people who don't eat pork, that may not be the most tasteful statement.

Not liking bacon and not being allowed to eat bacon due to religious dictum are two different things.

Most jews I know who follow kashrut and do not eat pork find it disgusting, usually just because it has always been viewed as being bad in their household and they have become wired to see it as disgusting. So they actually think its disgusting.

Exactly my point, though. Who knows if they might have liked it if it wasn't for the reglious tenet. The individual can't really be blamed.

I once heard an interesting theory on the subject of anti-pork religious dietary laws - because pork is generally more difficult to prepare safely than other types of meat like beef or chicken (think trichinosis + all the normal maladies associated with undercooked and underprepared meat), the ancient laws may actually stem from the fact that ancient food preparation methods were not as developed as ours and pork therefore carried more diseases than other types of meat.

No, its because pigs don't chew their own cud. The rule is that the mammals we eat have to chew their own cud and have cloven hooves. Really, pig isn't singled out at all. It is mentioned in the Torah, but so is the camel, the rock badger, and the hare.

Edit: Although this may prove your point anyway, I'm just saying its not only anti-pig. Shellfish cannot be eaten, and neither can "beasts that crawl on the ground" such as reptiles and insects, and most winged insects as well.

Either Yoda was Jewish... or old jewish people are aliens.

Locust is kosher, though. I've heard it tastes like shrimp. Pound for pound healthier than the crops they eat, too.

Obviously, the religions give many reasons themselves for not eating the meat, but the point is that there may have been a very pragmatic explanation behind all of those "reasons" that was left unsaid.

Shellfish is likewise difficult to prepare safely and probably caused disease in ancient times. And so forth.

But anyways, it's just an agricultural theory.

It's because Lucas was an anti-semite.

Yeah that's why he fucked over all of Speilberg's movies.
