I'm trying to get more into post-rock. I've been checking out GY!BE, Sigur Ros, etc. Basically, I'm looking for anything pompous, artsy, atmospheric. Being able to play it during sex is a big bonus.

So, yo.

Of Montreal is artsy. I wouldn't play it during sex, though.

() would look like a vagina if one were to represent it using keyboard characters. So it would follow that ( ) would be a WIDER vagina.

Why would you recommend Of Montreal in a post-rock thread?

Kedi the band you're looking for is Caspian. They own.

I'm not a cool enough hipster to know what the adjectives he used mean, so I went with artsy.

I rather like Mogwai.

Menomena is a rather lesser-known band and I've been digging them recently.

Slowdive isn't post-rock, but it's rather dreamy and moody.

That's all that's been on my mind recently.

Yeah- I would recommend caspian as well. Also there's a really good band Té.

Well, if you want artsy and pompous, you could probably do worse than Protest the Hero... But they're more hardcore (think "Yes" times Screamo).

Basically, the art rock band Yes crossed with heavy metal.

Holy crap can people stop recommending Swans they are sooooooo bad.

I don't listen to them, they were the first/only band that came to mind when I saw "post-rock."

Everytime someone brings up post-rock, everyone harps in with Ratatat. So, you might wanna give them a try.

I still don't get how you can dislike the band so much. Especially when the later music is much different from their early works.

Filth is a great album. and definitely post rock :V
