This isn't like DnD where campaigns can take a really long time so it makes sense that people from far away can roleplay when it's convenient for them to. Text duels is pretty much a waste of forum space. You could just use MWS and it would take less time and effort to play. it's not like DnD where you've just got a character sheet and the posts are the actions. In magic you need to have your cards all laid out and ready to go and leave them there for as long as you need. Plus, since people cheat all the time why the hell wouldn't you cheat in this text duel bs?

I played several text duels, but this was back when I had a dial-up connection. I would constantly get disconnected from my opponents. I was never able to finish a game. One day I was finally able to maintain a stable internet connection and actually play a full game. But I started losing the game. So...I cheated. Just an extra land here and there and other small things like that. But it was enough for me to win the game.

I'm saying that magic text duels are patently retarded, and not just because I don't like them. Even if I liked them I would admit that they are hopelessly slow for the information age, and there is very little actual magic being done in them.
