There was a thread in the MTG Salvation forums about this that started back in January, which I missed until now. But I saw it when it hit Wizards' own forums.

Someone has managed to find a way to compromise the integrity of the distribution of Magic cards in booster packs. This risks becoming pervasive, leading to a significant segment of the majority of players that buys individual booster packs, and not 36-pack booster boxes, giving up Magic in disgust at being cheated.
